At some stage in our lives we will undertake a bathroom renovation.

This could be anything from a small bathroom renovation to a major scheme that could involve changing the bathroom into a wet room.

In the olden days the family bathroom was literally that. You could have a six bedroomed house with just one family bathroom. Nowadays this would not be acceptable and a six bedroomed house should have at least three bathrooms with one attached to the master bedroom being ensuite.

What we are finding is, that when purchasing an older property the major work required revolves around creating more bathrooms.

If the bedrooms are of a decent size it is often possible to partiton off a part of the room and put in an ensuite bathroom or shower room.

If this is not possible then many people are preapred to sacrifice a small bedroom and undertake a bathroom renovation in this room. If the room is of a single bed size then it may be able to create a wet room. These modern day rooms are fully tiled and incorporate a shower and basin and toilet without a special shower compartment.

The shower can be placed behind a low curved wall but would not have glass panels or a shower tray. This type of bathroom renovation is very practical and innovative and gets away from the traditional bathroom design.

This will not appeal to everyone and others will prefer a more traditional bathroom renovation. This could include putting in a round bath or a corner bath and combining the bath with a jacuzzi. You could also consider having a separate shower within the bathroom or incorporating the bath and shower together if space is tight.

If the bathroom is to have a bidet and toilet and wash basin the room will need to be a good size. If space allows, his and hers basins could be a possibility.

Bathroom renovation companies should be able to give you every possible alternative so that you end up having a bathroom that is ideally suited to your requirements.
