3 Don'ts of Dog Jewelry
What can be sweeter than a cute little dog? He/she is your treasure and you'd like them to look like they are. It's wonderful to be able to put small amounts of jewelry on your dog, but there are three things to watch out for when choosing appropriate dog jewelry for you prince or princess.
1. Don't place dog jewelry on your pooch that is too tight. You might be afraid that fluffy is going to shake off that gift you bought for her after she gets up from a nap. Loosing a doggie necklace is much less important than protecting the well-being of your pet. When you buy jewelry for fluffy, make sure you can fit at least one or two fingers comfortably between the necklace and the dog's neck. That should ensure a safe fit. Remember, this is your baby's health we're talking about here. Nothing could be more important.
2. Don't choose flimsy dog jewelry. Some companies try to mass produce products at low cost to be able to sell them at low cost. This may drive more customers to buy their wares but at a loss to quality. Try to pick high quality when selecting dog jewelry. I suggest metal with strong stone fittings rather than brittle plastic or thin rubber jewelry. You will benefit greatly in the long run if you buy only trusted, name brand jewelry for your dog. Better quality lasts longer, too. You will only need to buy a few pieces of dog jewelry instead of many to replace the ones that your rambunctious little one has accidentally broken.
3. Don't buy jewelry for your dog that does not fit it's personality. If you own a large, tough dog a small, dainty necklace might look rather silly on them. Only the most fitting dog jewelry should be chosen for your precious pup. Is she dainty and quiet? Perhaps buy her a silver and pink necklace. Is he wild and playful? Maybe thicker, more flashy jewelry is the way to go. You know your dog the best so only you will know what fits best with his/her looks and personality.
Once you have found the right size, material, and style of dog jewelry for your doggie have fun with it. Choose different items for different moods (yours or your dog's). Shop around and find what you like. Your persistence will pay off. Plus, your fluffy will look fabulous!
