3 Must-Have Lighted Dog Collars
We all want our dogs to be as safe as possible. This includes making sure people notice our pet while walking him/her. During the night hours this becomes increasingly difficult, especially if you have a smaller dog. Investing in a lighted dog collar is a wise thing to do in this situation. Here are three that you can consider as necessary to your dog's wardrobe.
1. Reflective Lighted Dog Collar
The first must-have is a reflective lighted dog collar. This will allow people to notice your dog when there is still a little light left. This works well in early evening. It uses the remaining light from the sinking sun to alert motorists and other people to your dog's presence. Make sure to only use this type when you anticipate that you will return indoors before dark. Otherwise, you will run out of light and the collar won't be able the reflect anymore.
2. Single-Light Lighted Dog Collar
The second lighted dog collar is the single-light collar. This is a collar with just one light placed in whatever orientation on the dog's neck that you want. It could be just under his/her chin so your dog can walk down dark staircases without falling. Or you could situate it to the side to make on-coming drives more aware of your dog. If this placement has a difficult time staying put you might want to try putting a harness on the dog and fastening the collar to the harness. Make sure the light on the collar is in the correct position before you attach it. Also, if you use a safety pin, attach the collar the harness before you put either on so you won't be able to accidentally poke the dog. And finally, you could situate it just behind the head. Here it will alluminate both you and your dog, giving it a multi-purpose.
3. Multi-Light Lighted Dog Collar
The last lighted dog collar must-have is the multi-light collar. This has lights all around the dogs neck. This is used best when it is very dark or if your dog is very small. It will shine all around your dog, lighting both your paths. It will be very easy for anyone to see you and your dog, making it much safer to walk your dog along the road at night. It also helps your dog know the correct place to do his/her business in the dark.
